Cumin-Spiced Fish Tacos with Avocado-Mango Salsa

We used the following modified ingredients list:

  • 1 pound tilapia fillets
  • oil for sauteing
  • 8 flour tortillas (taco-size)

Spice rub for the fish:

  • 1 tablespoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

Salsa:

  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 largish avocado, peeled and chopped
  • 1 ripe mango, peeled and chopped
  • 1/2 sweet onion, julienned or diced
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh cilantro
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • juice from 1/2 fresh lime

We found that the fish was enough for about 4 person-meals (2 tortillas each); we ended up making another half recipe of the salsa because we used a higher salsa to fish ratio than the original recipe intended. So next time we’ll try scaling the salsa by a factor of 1.5.

The salsa sometimes looks funny the next day.
